ONN
The Ohio News Network (ONN) is a radio service and former television and radio news network in the U.S. state of Ohio. Its studios and offices are co-located with sister station WBNS-TV, the CBS television affiliate for Columbus and central Ohio. ONN is owned by the Dispatch Broadcast Group, which is affiliated with ''The Columbus Dispatch'', the Columbus daily newspaper. ONN provides statewide newscasts for affiliate stations during the day. It is distributed by Radio Sound Network, which is also owned and operated by the Dispatch Group. Radio Sound Network distributes various programming elements for radio stations, including live play-by-play broadcasts of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. ONN also operated a television channel from 1996 to 2012 in more than 1.8 million households statewide.
On July 25, 2012, ONN announced it would be ceasing operations due to changing consumer habits, effective August 31.〔(ONN ceases operations ). Press release. Retrieved July 25, 2012.〕 ONN closed at 12:00 with the last programing being a farewell looking at the history of ONN. The network's radio operations, ONN Radio, have remained in service.
==Awards==
ONN is regularly awarded for its outstanding news and programs regionally and nationally. In 2009, ONN received nine awards in the Ohio Associated Press contest including: Outstanding Sports Operation; Best Regularly Scheduled Sports; and Best Anchor Mike Kallmeyer.
